Brevig Mission School Principal Ginger Crockett has been named Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) Region 1 Principal of the Year. Brevig Mission School is in the Bering Strait School District, where she has served for 26 years.
AASSP sponsors regional and statewide Principal of The Year recognition awards to honor the educational leaders who play such a pivotal role in student success. They may be nominated by anyone – students, staff, parents, district office staff or principal peers - with awards finalized by AASSP members in their region. Regional Principals of The Year are eligible to be in the running for the statewide Alaska Principal of The Year.
Tammy Dodd, Interim Superintendent of the Bering Strait School District, said Principal Crockett is a strong leader for the teachers, students, staff and community members of Brevig Mission. "She is an innovative thinker and finds ways to overcome obstacles or barriers that the school faces."
Jennifer Eller, BSSD Director of Technology, shared that Principal Crockett is a dedicated educator committed to students. "Her ability to think outside the box and implement innovative learning opportunities for the students sets her apart."
Interim Superintendent Dodd congratulated Principal Crockett on her recognition saying, "Her dedication to Brevig Mission School is seen and felt by everyone at the school, as she creates a relevant learning environment for all students."
Each AASSP 2024 Regional Principal of The Year will be awarded and recognized at the 58th Annual Alaska Principals' Conference in Anchorage
