Bering Strait School District is now creating a candidate pool, and interviewing candidates for the 2013-14 school year, and our tentative list of Job Fair visits for the new recruiting season is being updated at this time. Our job listings for next year will be posted shortly.
The BSSD Personnel Office is located in the district office building in Unalakleet.
Our staff handles all types of employment inquiries, schedules interviews for candidates, coordinates job fair and other recruiting efforts, helps with teacher certification paperwork, and manages all district employee relations.
The District has over 197 certified teachers, 21 school principals and assistant principals, several district office administrators and program specialists, as well as several hundred classified support team members

Each year there is a certain amount of teacher turnover in the district, but administrative openings are less common.
Our hiring cycle peaks between January and March, and we like to have most positions for the following school year filled by April.

Interview scheduled (2 -3 individual, job fair & video conference interviews)
Letter of Intent(candiates selected are issued a Letter of Intent pending a contract)
Formal contract sent (a signed copy returned to BSSD for Board approval)
